Rome-ward Bound

Another whirlwind weekend. I am not much more caught up than I was Friday, and I am certainly not ahead of the game, which is unfortunate. However, I am sure that I will get progressively more productive as the week goes on.

I managed to workout 5 times last week. That must be some sort of record. Go me. I didn't eat all that well, but there is always something to improve.

Saturday, I got up way too early and my favorite congressman BK drove me to Nashville with DD to the TYRF rechartering meeting. I had never been to something like that before, and it was rather interesting. The characters were certainly worth the trip. Afterwards, we had lunch, and then I rode back with RC and Dojo because DD and BK were going to something else that night. Little did I know, those two had an early happy hour with some people from Knoxville, but I think at that point, I was glad to come home. I talked to DD and BK for awhile on the drive back, and apparently I was pretty entertaining. :)

The best news came on the drive home, that I received an NEH fellowship to study in Italy for five weeks this summer. YAY go me. Two feathers in my cap in one summer. I am happy and scared to death at the same time. That is a long time away from home. That is a lot of Latin to read. There are a lot of arrangements to be made. My parents are pressuring me to stay even longer in Rome so they can join up with me, but I think I will be ready to come home. Who knows.

I have a ton going on inside and outside of school this week. Say a little prayer for me. I had like 3 glasses of coke today I was so stressed and anxious.

  • Congrats, congrats, congrats! I know you'll have fun in Rome -- and once you get into things over there, you probably won't be as homesick as you think. And look at it this way: You're lucky you're not tied into a 9-to-5 in which study abroad is prohibitive.

What's up with you leaving me IMs on the SK then signing off AIM? It makes it hard to badger you. Of course we'll do coffee! Track me down and we'll discuss.

  • Well, when you do things like, have to be at school for a 6:45 AM conference, you tend to try to get in bed earlier... well before one anyway.

I think my latest IM on your Sidekick is the best one yet.

  • I know I already told you this...but congrats again, Abby!

I fully expect you to report back from St. Peter's Square. :)
